Good evening everyone! We hope you enjoyed your night with your family at the school program if you were able to attend. The kids all did a great job.
The following was just emailed by our school administration:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The school has been made aware of a confirmed case of a student with “staph” infection. As always, the school is continuously taking appropriate ste
ps to clean and disinfect the facility to prevent the potential spread of infectious diseases.
The best precautions to prevent the spread of skin infection, as is the same with flu, common cold etc., is by practicing good hygiene and by frequently washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand rub. Hand sanitizer is readily available in many locations throughout the campus. We have encouraged students to take home practice clothing and PE uniforms to wash on a daily basis as well. Students should avoid sharing items that come in contact with skin, such as towels, that could spread infection. Cover skin abrasions and cuts with clean dry bandages until healed, and seek medical attention if you feel that your child has an infection.
For more questions and answers on this topic, I have attached a document provided by the U.S. Department of Education on MRSA in Schools. Information is also available on the Kansas State High School Activities Association web site.
If you have questions regarding staph infections or any other health related topic, please don’t hesitate to contact our school nurse, Lisa Crettol, at 528-3171.

While none of our wrestlers have been infected we want to assure you all that we have and will continue to clean and disinfect our mats and equipment before each pratice.
We do ask that you follow the guidelines Mr. Hutton has described. If you suspect any problems with your child, please do not bring them to practice and do schedule a visit with your doctor.
Thank you all so much for helping us keep our team healthy!

Good morning everyone,
Please remember your Emporia tournament registration fee must be paid by tonight if your wrestler plans on wrestling at Emporia on December 8th.
If you would like to order any wrestling apparel you also need to have your order form and check with you tonight. We need to get those orders turned in so we can get your goodies back for you. Remember, you DO NOT need to order a t-shirt for your wrestler. We have them ordered for them. If you would like additional apparel for them then go ahead and order.
We have come up with an exciting opportunity for you all that I hope will make tournaments a little easier. Details will be announced at practice and then on here later tonight. You could go to tournaments for free!!
There are several nasty illnesses going around school right now. Please keep your kiddo home if they have been sick or are not feeling well. It is very easy to pass germs in wrestling. We want our team healthy and strong!

Reminders for this week:
Our first tournament is coming up on Dec. 8th in Emporia. If you would like your wrestler to compete you will need to sign up and pay by Thursday, Nov. 29th. The fee is $15. Remember, you do not have to sign up. You can decide if and when your wrestler will do tournaments.
Last week we handed out an order form for wrestling apparel. Just to clarify, this is for shir
ts, jackets and hoodies for parents, siblings or whomever might want some apparel. You do not need to order anything for your wrestler unless you want something extra. The wrestlers tshirts have been ordered. We will also be trying to get warm ups for each child as we can.
Please take some time and go over the sportsman contract with your wrestler. We believe very strongly in the importance of our wrestlers learning the lessons of being a good sport whether on or off the mat, win or lose. Once you have discussed it go ahead and sign it and bring it back to practice this week.
Finally, our tournament will be December 16th. Please start thinking about how you can support the tournament. We will need lots of volunteers that weekend. We can also always use donations for the concession stand. Sign up sheets will be available later this week or next week at practice.
We hope your wrestler is enjoying themselves. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

What a great second week of practice! Can you see the difference in the wrestlers already? It always seems to take a week or so for the kids to figure out the routine. Once they do though it is fun to watch them start really learning.
Just a reminder, tonight is the parent meeting at 6 pm. We would really like as many of you as possible to be there if you can. We will be discussing expectations, tournaments, the sport in general and equipment needs. For those of you new to wrestling, we hope you will walk away feeling like you know a little more about the sport.
Have a great day everyone!

Week #1 of wrestling is complete. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive this last week. We are really excited to have such a great group of kids this year. Each year it is fun to see the kids develop over the season. The wrestlers you see today are not the wrestlers you will see in March. Watching them transform is one of the highlights of the season.
We will be having a parent meeting on Friday, November 16th at 6 pm. If you are not able to make it that night just let us know and we will get you the information.
We hope your child enjoyed their first week of practice. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Coach is out of surgery and home resting. He did an excellent job of darn near cutting off his thumb. The surgery took a little over three hours. He did cut the nerve, tendon, artery, and even a chunk of bone. It will be a long recovery but he is excited to see you all on Tuesday and get the season started. So keep those plans for practice next week! We will reschedule the parent meeting soon. Thank you all for your understanding!

Well the first night of practice didn't go quite like we had planned. Coach would like to thank you all for being so understanding tonight. I will keep you all posted how he is doing tomorrow. For now, no parent meeting tomorrow night, but we are still planning on practice on Tuesday. Thank you all again for your thoughts and your prayers.

Wrestling Camp 2012
What does 34 excited wrestlers + their parents + some siblings + a few coaches equal? A great first night of wrestling camp, that's what! Wow, what a great turnout! The wrestlers worked tonight on learning a little bit about the sport and some of the very basic basics.
We would like to thank all of the parents who brought their kids out tonight to try camp. We hope your child had a good experience and is excited for the rest of the week.
Four days of camp will not be enough time to teach your child everything there is to know about wrestling so keep in mind our goal this week is just to introduce the kids to the sport.
Many of you may have very little experience with wrestling. That is okay. If you have questions we are happy to answer them. Just ask us! If your child decides to join the team for the season, we are planning on having a parent meeting after the first week or so of practice to make sure all of our parents have an idea of how the sport works.
We hope you had a great first night of camp. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything.

There is a chill in the air and the days are getting shorter. That can only mean one thing.....it is almost time to wrestle!
We are very excited to kick off our 2012-2013 season with our 2nd annual Osage City Youth Wrestling Camp. Camp will be held October 23-26th. The cost is only $10. This is a great time for your child to try out wrestling and see if they have an interest in pursuing the sport.
The last year has brought some exciting changes to our club. Our wrestling family continues to grow and expand. So many of our returning wrestlers have made great strides over the last year. We are excited to continue watching them develop their sport in the upcoming season. We also held our first tournament in August, which thanks to the community and our wrestling families, was a great success. December will bring our second tournament. Plans are currently underway for this event so if you would like to volunteer we will be contacting you.
We have also added a third assistant coach to our great coaching staff. Mike Fager and Matt Corwine will be joined by Nathan Theel as assistant coaches this season. Welcome Nathan! Mike and Matt, thank you so much for all you have already done for our club. Our wrestlers are better because of you.
Another change you will see in the upcoming year is that we will begin running two practices twice a week. We will have a novice practice for our newer, less experienced wrestlers and an advanced practice for those wrestlers who are ready to move onto the next level. Practice times will be announced shortly.
Over the next few months there will be a lot going on. We will use this website to update you all regarding new information. The plan is to update the site at least once per week so check back often.
Thank you to all who have supported our club over the last five years. We welcome you to our wrestling family and look forward to another great season!
